As we progress through the 2018, breathe slowly.

Gosh! we are nearly at the end of February, 2018 is proving to be moving at a rapid pace, with the humidity and rain curling even the straightest hair.

We are challenged daily with external factors, whether it be uncomfortable heat or steamity as I like to call it, or maybe the constant fear tactics from the media and the government.

Its hard not to be effected and a little exhausted by it.

The message I would like to put out there is just do your best and expect that standard to change daily.

We are different everyday and a little time each morning to check in with you will help you understand yourself.

Stop!! breathe slowly and from your belly.

Close your eyes and breathe in happiness to your heart then breathe out tension and negativity.

Exercise daily alternate yoga and some other form of activity.

Eat healthy food made with your hands.

Sleep for at least 7 hours.

Try to cut out using plastic and feel like you are helping our creatures of the world, this will bring goodness back to you.

We will chat again in March stay on track and love the you that YOU are.

Never underestimate Your body!

I want to tell you a brief story, about your body and yoga.  I am always amazed how yoga can heal the body and that shift of physical  response eliminates  such tension mentally.

After  meeting a gentleman in his 70s who had worked all his life, in a busy industry, where it was crucial to always be one step ahead of plans prompted me to write his story.

On his first visit to me for his private yoga session he seems willing to learn but it was hard for him to relax, even as we spoke he shifted his weight from one foot to the other and he couldn’t wait to get out of the place when he finished.

He had some tension in his spine, mostly postural and learnt habits physically, his brain was wired to be switched on at all times even though he is retired now.

I have been seeing this gentleman fortnightly, so roughly about 5 times now.

He goes home and  practices what we do each fortnight, then returns, the  physical changes are  amazing he is a lot more relaxed and he has a lot more movement when swimming and with life in general.

I am proud of his dedication to his practice and his attitude, which is this …there is no quick fix to a well body and mind .

I agree with him full heartedly, we must nurture ourselves daily, yoga is the key to learning how to do this.

Set your standards to what your  personally is like. Make your practice suit you, some days you might feel 10mins is all you can manage, then do only 10 minutes.

Each day you will feel different so adjust your practice to suit this. Choose a Registered Yoga Teacher with Yoga Australia ,to help you.

Start to feel free , live to control what you can and lose the  focus on what you can’t control.

Ultimately control your wellbeing and happiness will come.

How to reboot my brain and body in 15 mins

Posted by & filed under Blog.

Often we say, my brain is too busy and my body is too tired.  So what to do???

We want to connect the brain and body so they are running at the same rate, this can be done in as little as 15minutes, so whats your excuse.

Here are 3 ways to do just that.

1. Go outside,  straight away your senses will be alerted, nature will make you feel grounded , walk around the block,

focusing on breathing from the belly through your nose for 15 minutes

OR

2. Listen to music with your eyes half closed, breathing from the belly through your nose,as you walk around the room slowly at an even pace.

OR

3. Stand up near a window if possible , stretch your arms up in the air while breathing in through your nose ,then as you exhale through your nose, sweep the arms behind your back and link the hands, opening the chest and feeling the space in your heart.

Repeat this up to 5 times .

Do any of these daily for a week and let me know if it helps…..

Why would it work because we are made of organic matter and absorb everything around us, we need time to file away information, to have a clear thinking brain and we need to use our bodies in some way to release tension, toxins ect to help the blood flow and even out the rubbish from the good stuff.

MTHYS

You will forget where you are up to and will take too long to get back into the mood to work.

TRUTH

The brain will be fresh and the body relaxed ,so ideas will flow at a much faster rate,

happiness is activated and negativity will be lifted, you will feel in control of your mind and body.

Being busy and not taking regular breaks, may make you feel like you are accomplishing so much, but really you are going over old ground a lot of the time, making mistakes and overlooking the obvious .

This teaches the brain to stay activated or wired , so the body releases the hormone cortisol because it feels threatened or stressed, the body and mind need to take a break, so allow yourself time to reboot and start this practice today.

You will sleep better, preform better , and be much happier.

SPRING TIME

Posted by & filed under Blog.

SEPTEMBER  HAS ARRIVED, we are excited to see the sun rising earlier and the sun setting later , more time to enjoy the beauty of the sunshine coast.

Take a walk on the beach , a dip in the ocean  or a yoga class by the setting sun. All these things inspire our minds to stay in the moment and be grateful that such delights are at our doorstep.

Here at YOGA AT ALEX , we are able to see the sun set as we move through our asanas or poses, it is very grounding to be part of the closing of the day and witness  the sun going down and the sky becoming an amazing colourful cloak that covers the world.

Peace is felt in the heart and we are reminded balance in our everyday life is essential.

I hope September is your month to feel at ease and grateful for your life. Namaste

Make the time to find peace!

In the silence of the morning, just before the sun rises is a time when your thoughts have not yet started to zoom around your brain.

This is the perfect time for meditation and light yoga, so you can start each day fresh with a clear mind and a limber body.

I like to finish each day with the sunset to remind myself to bring closure to events, thoughts and decisions of the day.

I am lucky to see the sunset while my evening yoga class is on and I feel this creates a significant impact on the body and mind connection.

The sunset re enforces the need to let go of the stuff each day brings even though some altercations or actions though the day have made us uncomfortable or angry or fearful.

As humans we are organic and our bodies will absorb peoples words and actions everyday. If you let this build up within you, it creates a stressful environment mentally and physically. We must learn to let go of all events daily, this is why it feels so good to  unwind the body through yoga so the mind follows and both become relaxed and calm.

We are reminded that our wellbeing is of upmost importance and nothing is more vital than health and happiness.

Love yourself and set yourself free through yoga.

Namaste !
